The discovery of pulsars – a graduate student’s story

In this talk I will describe how pulsars (pulsating radio stars) were discovered, and reflect on some ’near misses’ when they were ‘almost’ discovered. The main features of these amazing stars will also be presented.
在本演講中，我將講述脈衝星(脈動無線電星)是如何發現的，並回想當它們「幾乎被發現」時，有幾次「差點錯失」。我將呈現這些奇異星球的主要特色。

If the Big Bang that created the Universe 13.6 billion years ago gave us hydrogen and helium, where did the other chemical elements come from? This talk will describe how the Universe created the chemical elements that underpin our lives.
